Last Sunday, the family and I celebrated my mother's birthday. We wanted to do something really fun for her, and with the latest release of the Alice in Wonderland - Through the Looking Glass movie, it was a no brainer that we would throw a Mad Hatter style Tea Party.
With only one weeks notice, I had to put together two cake designs, create cute pocket watch biscuits, and also think about party decorations.
When it came to the decor, I found a ton of gorgeous paper plates and cups on ebay, and this was matched up with some vintage table wear, and pretty cake stands. The London store 'Tiger' have great party wear, such as mint green and gold striped straws, and super cute poka dot napkins.
Of course, the most important thing was the cake! So I created two, this coconut and chocolate topiary ball style cake, with the Disney depiction of the door knob, featured in the animated movie. (Credit goes to Liz Marek's at 'The Artisan Cake Company' for her wonderful tutorial on the grass design)
With a nod to the Queen of Hearts, the table was finished with this vanilla cloud cake. The Illustrated picks were ordered from 'Party Delights'.
The party went down a treat, mum was so excited to have the whole family together, and with lots of pretty decorations and yummy treats, complete with sandwiches and bowels of childhood favorite candy it was a feast for the eyes.
